Job Summary

 

Altumint is seeking an experienced Diesel Generator Technician to assist in all aspects of generator maintenance, troubleshooting, rehabilitating/refurbishing, and repair work. You'll be the driving force keeping a fleet of automated generator/battery bank mobile trailers operating at peak efficiency. This is an on-site position at our Lanham, Maryland headquarters, with occasional travel required to various customer sites to work on diesel trailer units.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of mechanical experience
  • Engine mechanical experience
  • Computer skills (Files systems, windows or Linux operating system knoweldge)
  • Knowledge of 3 cylinder engines (“Yanmar engine”)
  • Ability to work independently and in a small team environment
  • Proficiency in the use of shop tools required
  • Active DOT card: OR be able to qualify for DOT
  • A valid driver’s license is required with clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Able to pass background check up to employment standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with single and 3 phase generator power
  • Technical or advance degree in diesel repair or a similar field
  • Generator Technician Certificate
  • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred (i.e. Generac, Yanmar Kohler, Briggs and Cummins)
  • Any gas & diesel certificate is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting engine issues that are at various warehouses - Diagnosing and resolving issues that prevent the diesel engine from running efficiently or at all.  
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues - Identifying and fixing malfunctions in electrical systems related to the generator setup, both on-site and in storage 
  • Travel to different warehouses and locations to service generators, with a service truck provided by the company. 
  • Searching parts for engines searching manuals for engines within the proprietary software
  • Knowledge of automated engine control units (ECU’s) 
  • Fills out appropriate maintenance forms: documenting service performed, and any issues encountered.  
  • Assists with various maintenance actions: Helping the Site Manager with general upkeep tasks related to the generators.
